RE: A Letter from our General Manager
A new era is on its way! With an immense amount of pride and gratitude, I’d like to take a moment to share the exciting news that I will have the opportunity to retire this coming spring (2023) and that The Pointe is officially on the hunt for a new General Manager. My tenure at The Pointe has been long, 34 years to be exact, and I’m so grateful for all the experiences that being the GM of this amazing resort has brought me.
When I started in 1988, the building had just been completed, the lobby was welcoming its first excited guests, and half of the amenities that the resort offers today didn’t exist yet. During my time as GM, we added the boat slips, kayaks, canoes, bikes, numerous gas grill picnic patios, a lakeside fire pit area, added a third conference room and remodeled the two existing conference rooms, and executed countless capital improvement projects. We welcomed thousands of guests each spring to enjoy the blooming color in the Northwoods, each summer to enjoy the lake, each fall to take in the awe-inspiring foliage, and every winter to enjoy the snowmobile and xc-ski trails, and with each passing season new challenges and opportunities emerged.
The staff and board members of the hotel grew into a family and my own family grew to enjoy the resort. My kids frequently cannonballed into the pool and roamed the hallways, and as they grew both my daughter and my son even worked with me at the resort. My daughter’s first job was to help with our continental breakfast and later the front desk operations. As my son got older, he helped the building and grounds crew maintain the exterior of the building and grounds. For many past years and through this spring my wife planted the beautiful flowers that adorn our building and grounds. And, our first grandkid got to enjoy The Pointe’s pool this summer! The hotel has always been woven into our family life, and while we’ll miss the wonderful friends who have become family here, I know it’s time to enjoy a little relaxation of my own.
As we begin to make the transition to a new era of management, the Board of Directors and I will remain steadfast in our dedication to ensuring exceptional customer service to our guests. We’re looking for a talented new General Manager to take over this role and continue the award-winning resort experience our guests have come to know and love. If you’re the candidate we’re looking for, please send your resume to [email protected]
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my 34-year journey here at The Pointe Hotel & Suites. I look forward to the next chapter both for myself and my family, as well as the resort. If you’re staying with us in the next few months, swing by the front desk to say a fond farewell!
Thank you!
Buck Drossart
